Have you ever had a longing and expectation to visit Israel? To visit the Biblical sites in Greece and Turkey (including the 7 Churches of Revelation)? Have you wondered where Luther and the Reformers have trod to shape the history of the Church, along with the revivalists such as Wesley and Duncan Campbell in Great Britain? We have tours where we will be heading to the Holy Land to follow in the Footsteps of Jesus and to experience the places where He spent his life. We also follow in the footsteps of Paul and take a view of ancient Biblical history. Nothing can compare to the wonder of our Biblical legacy and reliving the places of the Bible. TeDeum Tours has an excellent relationship with our Travel Agencies and can only offer the best quality and economic service available!

A play of life and death, promised in a moment of mortal threat – so began the history of the Oberammergau Passion Play in 1633. In the middle of the Thirty Years War, after months of suffering and death from the plague, the Oberammergauers swore an oath that they would perform the “Play of the Suffering, Death and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ” every ten years. At Pentecost 1634, they fulfilled their pledge for the first time on a stage they put up in the cemetery above the fresh graves of the plague victims. In the year 2020, the Community of Oberammergau will perform the Passion Play, they have preserved throughout the centuries with singular continuity, for the 42nd time.

Enchanting Production

Over 2000 participants brought the story of Jesus of Nazareth to the ears and eyes of the audience in a five-hour presentation on the imposing open-air stage. Almost half of the inhabitants of Oberammergau enacted with great devotion the story of Jesus whose message gives billions of people hope and strength. The play covers the period of Jesus entering Jerusalem and continues up to his death on the Cross and his resurrection. The new production, under the direction of Christian Stückl and the artistic team of the Passion Play in 2000, the stage designer Stefan Hageneier and the music directors Markus Zwink and Michael Bocklet, reflected the tremendous community achievement. For ten months the villagers playing the roles of Jesus, Mary, Pontius Pilate and the apostles, of the children, soldiers and priests rehearsed the newly revised text whilst the orchestra and the singers studied the exceptional music created for the performance by the composer Rochus Dedler.

International Attraction

The tradition, maintained and experienced almost without interruption for over 380 years, of putting on the play about the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ every ten years, will be continued for the 42nd time in 2020 and is regarded as the most important passion play in the world. The village at the edge of the Bavarian Alps expects approximately 500,000 visitors for the passion play, over half of which will be international guests. All actors of the world’s largest amateur dramatic performance come from the village, since a special play law is in effect. All participants, from actors playing the big speaking parts such as Jesus, Mary or Judas, through members of the choir, orchestra members, firemen and ushers, must have been born in Oberammergau or lived there for at least 20 years.

Local Experience

Oberammergau is a town located approximately 60 miles from Munich. The town is beautiful, surrounded by majestic mountains and picturesque meadows. The village is known for woodcarving. There are dozens of woodcarver shops. The town is also famous for its Bavarian themes painted along side many of the homes and buildings.

How do I make a booking?

We had the joy and privilege in sending several hundred pilgrims and visitors to attend the Passion Play in 2010. Te Deum tours will once again partner with Vered Hasharon in Israel and Vered Travel & Tours in Europe in taking group tours to the Passion Play 2020 in Germany connecting with tours throughout Europe and the Biblical Lands. There are three options:

Option 1 – Individual Bookings – Check out the website and dates and choose the day of your visit. You can make your own booking or we can help you with that.  This option is for people that arranges their own flights, visa applications, land and tour arrangements.

Option 2 – Pastors / Tourledears – We would like to invite Pastors and Tour-leaders that plan to take or lead a group to check out the possible tour programs on the website and dates and choose the day of your visit. You can choose one of the existing programs or you can plan your own tour according to your needs and countries or program that you would like to visit. Te Deum can help you plan your tour and make arrangements. Just bear in mind once the date and month is chosen for the Passion Play, we need to secure a 5-10% deposit for the amount of passengers booked.  Normal Tour-leaders privileges will be given. Pastors can also work together. This is the time for all to decide if they would like to travel to the Passion Play.

Option 3 – Te Deum Tours – Te Deum are planning to take Four Groups to the Passion Play on two separate dates.  For example Group 1 – Western Europe ending with Passion Play/Group 2 – Eastern Europe starting with Passion Play. These groups will fly different dates and doing different tours but will be at the Passion Play together.   We will also do Israel and Turkey together. We are in process of finalizing the dates and tour programs. Pastors and tour leaders that would like to go but cannot fill a full group can join one of the planned tours and receive Tour-leaders privileges. Do contact us if you are interested?
